Angelito Lapid, Lapid’s Korner Inc.
Angelito Lapid is the owner of Lapids Korner Inc., which specializes in manufacturing Filipino-style chicharones. Before starting his business, Angelito worked in finance until 2020, when he was laid off due to the pandemic. Driven by a desire for financial independence and inspired by his family’s chicharon business in the Philippines, Angelito started his business in 2021. Using his family’s recipes and traditional techniques, Lapid’s Korner produces high quality chicharon with the perfect crisp. Angelito’s business, which started as a solo endeavor, is now a growing enterprise.
Michael Taylor, Crossfit Inglewood
Michael Taylor is the founder of CrossFit Inglewood, one of the first CrossFit affiliates in Inglewood, California. Inspired by the 2011 CrossFit Games, Michael turned his passion into a mission to bring health and fitness to his community. With a Level 2 CF Trainer certification and experience coaching at top gyms, he’s built a strong foundation for growth. Supported by his wife Lea, a marketing professional, Michael has expanded his gym offerings to include 24/7 access and nutrition guidance. Michael is known for his integrity, entrepreneurial drive, and deep commitment to the Inglewood community – he’s looking forward to growing his business to meet the community demand.
Maria Rojas, Lulu’s Tamales
Maria Rojas is a hardworking single mother and street vendor who has been sharing her family’s traditional recipes with the Highland Park community since 2016. Taught by her mother at a young age, Maria specializes in homemade tamales, champurrado, and arroz con leche. Since joining Inclusive Action as a client in 2020 and participating in our catering cohort program, she has grown her business significantly expanding into catering events, offering delivery and pick-up services. Maria is known for her strong work ethic and commitment to learning. Today, she works alongside her daughter, continuing to build her business with dedication and heart.
