Position Overview

The Development Coordinator is a dynamic, creative, and organized fundraiser passionate about helping IAC drive impact towards just economic opportunity for marginalized communities, entrepreneurs, and workers. As a key Development & Communications Team member, the Development Coordinator helps implement IAC’s annual fundraising strategy and supports or leads on all aspects of the Development Team’s priorities.

The Development Coordinator utilizes strategic thinking, compelling storytelling, and a network of contacts to pursue new and existing institutional funders and individual donors to meet annual fundraising goals to support IAC’s general operations, programs, and special projects. This includes writing and editing compelling grant proposals, data entry and analysis, narrative and quantitative report writing, data visualizations, coordinating meetings with internal and external stakeholders, producing IAC events, and more. Working closely with the Development & Content Manager and other IAC staff, the Development Coordinator will also ensure that the Development & Communications Team’s internal processes, systems, and data are effectively used and maintained. The Development Coordinator reports directly to the Development & Content Manager with frequent collaboration with IAC’s Leadership and Program Teams.

Job Responsibilities

Institutional Fundraising & Stewardship

  • Supporting all aspects of IAC’s institutional fundraising activities, including;

  • Identifying and conducting targeted research on the availability of private and public funding opportunities consistent with IAC’s priorities;

  • Collaborating with IAC leadership and staff to write compelling and accurate grants/proposals and reports and compile relevant data, budgets, and supporting materials according to funding requirements;

  • In conjunction Development & Content Manager and IAC Staff, build and maintain relationships with institutional funders; and

  • Assist in maintaining all institutional funder grant and relationship data.

Individual Donor Cultivation

Supporting all aspects of IAC’s individual donor cultivation activities, including;

  • Collaborating with the Development & Communications Team and IAC staff to Identify, research, and cultivate individual donor prospects;

  • Preparing compelling narratives, pitches, presentations or other materials as needed to cultivate and secure individual donors; 

  • Collaborating with the Development & Communications Team to develop and execute IAC’s annual donor engagement calendar, including crafting periodic emails, thank you letters, acknowledgments, newsletters, and more; and

  • Assist in maintaining all individual donation and relationship data.

Events

  • Supporting the logistic and strategic execution of all IAC fundraising events, including donor engagement salons, staff conference and panel attendance, presentations, community events, and IAC’s annual gala, as needed.

  • Preparing communications materials, invitations, emails, and other collateral as needed for all IAC fundraising events;

  • Occasional participation in IAC programmatic events, specifically when events provide a fundraising opportunity;

Administrative and Other Responsibilities

  • Participating in the creation and implementation of the Development & Communications Team's annual strategy;

  • Supporting the completion of weekly and monthly internal data entry and reporting cycles, including, but not limited to, tracking all donations, grants, and funding opportunities, and Monthly Board of Directors Fundraising Reports

  • Collaborating with the Communications Team to carry out communications strategy as needed, including newsletters, blogs, social media, and donor stewardship activities;

  • Developing a deep understanding of IAC’s programs to aid in the development of compelling and mission-aligned fundraising materials; 

  • Participation in all organization-wide strategic planning activities, including annual retreats, learning sessions, and quarterly reflections;

  • As requested, assist with other fundraising projects, such as individual giving campaigns and major benefit events.

  • Other duties as may be assigned. 

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: 

  • 1-2  years of experience in grant writing, communications or similar

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in concise, accessible language

  • Experience in data management preferred (Salesforce, Asana, etc.)

  • Strong time management skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines, plan ahead, and balance multiple priorities

  • Knowledge of the region’s fundraising landscape, with the ability to network and collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders

  • Detail-oriented, results-oriented, and strong attention to follow-through

  • A collegial team player with a proven ability to motivate, engage, and work collaboratively at all levels with funders, volunteers, staff, colleagues, and community members

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred

  • Alignment with and passion for Inclusive Action's mission and values

  • Positive, upbeat attitude that supports Inclusive Action staff and its organizational partners

Compensation 

Inclusive Action offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The starting salary range for this position is $66,560 - $75,000, along with 100% paid medical (HMO or PPO), dental, and vision benefits, 18 paid holidays (which includes a week between Christmas and New Year’s Day), sick leave, and up to two weeks of paid vacation a year with an opportunity to accrue more after serving two years with the organization. Hybrid Work Schedules
Currently, the Inclusive Action team is working in person at the office 40% of the time and remotely 60% of the time. The physical office is located in Boyle Heights and is available for necessary in-person appointments as well as a workspace. All applicants are expected to live in Los Angeles County.
