In 2018, the City of LA launched the Adopt-a-Lot (AAL) pilot program as an environmental justice and community development initiative to increase access to public space in park-poor communities. AAL transforms city-owned vacant lots in park-poor communities into vibrant public spaces by enabling community-based organizations and neighborhood groups to adopt vacant sites in their communities via a temporary lease agreement.
The pilot program is set to expire in May 2025. We are working to make this program permanent.
