Position Overview
Inclusive Action is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Lending to lead our lending and business coaching services. The Senior Director of Lending will play a pivotal role in managing the organization's lending portfolio, ensuring quality control, driving the lending team’s fundraising efforts, and fostering strategic partnerships to expand our impact.
The Senior Lending Director will ensure that the organization is executing its lending and technical assistance programs effectively. They will be working closely with the Director of Lending who will be focused on internal operations and executing organizational deliverables, while they will be focused on strategy, partnership management, investor cultivation, and quality control. The Senior Director will lead a growing team of 11 team members. As a part of the organization’s Leadership Team, the Senior Lending Director will support Inclusive Action’s team members, consultants, and community partners in making sure that the organization is surpassing its lending and business assistance goals while maintaining a work environment that preserves Inclusive Action’s values and philosophy: curiosity, empathy, courage, perseverance, impact, and excellence. This position will report to the Executive Director and will sit on the Leadership Team (Executive Director, Deputy Director, Lending Director, Director of Community Innovation, Director of Operations & Finance, and the Senior Director of Policy & Legal Strategy).
This team member will be responsible for:
Leadership
Build out the vision and theory of change for IAC’s Access to Capital work
Oversee the implementation of the 2023-2025 Access to Capital strategy https://www.inclusiveaction.org/capital-strategy
Assess the impact of all access to capital portfolios and projects, including oversight of data infrastructure to measure both outputs and outcomes
Ensure all access to capital activities are in compliance with local, State and Federal laws
Regularly meet with peer Directors to integrate programming across verticals
Support the governance of the whole organization through participating in Leadership team meetings, and contributing to developing organizational wide policies, protocols and processes.
Loan Portfolio Management
Develop a forecasting and risk management system to implement for the microloan fund
Guide the Director of Lending in management of the organization's loan portfolio, including risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and collections, to maintain portfolio quality and financial sustainability.
Partner with the Director of Lending to oversee all aspects of the lending process, including loan origination, underwriting, and servicing, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Monitor industry trends and borrower needs, and lead in the design of new loan products to serve our communities.
Business Coaching
Develop a vision and oversee a strategy to optimizing business coaching (as highlighted as a goal in IAC’s Access to Capital strategy)
Provide strategic guidance and support to our team of business coaches with a goal of meeting the needs of our borrowers and moving them closer to their individual goals.
Lead on the identification and cultivation of partners who can support the needs of business coaching clients, with an emphasis on intersections in housing, social services and more.
Quality Control & Evaluation
Expand robust monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the performance and impact of lending activities, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
Work with the Deputy Director, Development and Communications Team to produce reports on the impact of our access to capital programming.
Finance & Fundraising
Develop and execute fundraising strategies to secure funding from government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and other stakeholders to support our lending programs and operational needs.
Lead investor engagement for our loan fund, in partnership with our Executive Director and Development team.
Work with our Director of Finance to prepare monthly reports on the financial state of our loan fund along with a forecast of fundraising needs.
Strategic Partnerships
Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with community organizations, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to expand access to capital and resources for underserved entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Management & Team Development
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the lending and business coaching teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, team building, innovation, and accountability.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in lending, with a proven track record of managing lending operations and portfolios in a financial institution or CDFI. Candidates with a lived experience in the communities we serve are preferred.
Strong understanding of small business lending practices, micro-businesses, credit analysis, and risk management principles. CDFI industry experience is desired.
Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals.
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, and cultivating relationships with funders and donors.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative strategies to drive organizational growth and impact.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Bilingual candidates preferred.

Compensation
Inclusive Action for the City offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $175,000 with an expected starting salary of $150,000, along with 100% paid medical (HMO or PPO), dental, and vision benefits, a 401k retirement plan with 3% matching, 18 paid holidays (which includes a week between Christmas and New Year’s Day), sick leave, and up to two weeks of paid vacation a year with an opportunity to accrue more after serving two years with the organization.

Hybrid Work Schedule
Currently the Inclusive Action team is working in person at the office 40% of the time and remotely 60% of the time. The physical office is located in Boyle Heights and is available for necessary in-person appointments as well as its work space. All applicants are expected to live in Los Angeles County.
